We consist of five highly motivated and spirited women; commitment to friendship and each other. One way we experience life together is by walking every year on a section of the Appalachian Trail.
Less then five days remain till the pathway lined with white blazes awaits our feet and our spirits. Numerous spreadsheets with collections of gear, food information, and our daily mileage allotment await final preparation. The food is packed, most details are planned and my spirit awaits the beginning of this journey. I hope that today, those four little old ladies who have inspired this journey can sit and smile. For it was that day one year ago in New Hampshire, when I saw four ladies committed to each other and to this trail. They have been hiking the Appalachian Trail for over 20 years together and were in great spirits because of it. Now white or gray hair rests on their heads and their souls were alive and well because of the fulfillment of each other and the beauty of this footpath. That moment inspired joy and a determination to experience a similar journey with three of my own dear friends. Shannon Barkley, Anne Marek, and Grace G. Trabulsi will begin this journey that will mark a tradition for many years to come. It is our establishment of an Ebenezer of God's faithfulness in our lives and in our friendship. My boots are worn from previous journeys, but my soul is ready for this beginning. We will begin in the middle of the trail in PA and head south through the Shenandoah. We not only commit this time to hiking, but also pray and solitude.
